As far as super hero films go you can do much worse than Chronicle. The acting, special effects and most importantly the story line are pretty much spot on in this film. Personally i’m not a fan of the found footage films, they tend to be poorly executed & predictable, but thankfully “Chronicle” is well thought out and has a fresh feel to it.

I liked the realism and was easily convinced by the situations presented in the lead up to the “supernatural” stuff. Chronicle does an excellent job of making you feel like you’re a part of the movie, the actors play their parts really well and the scenes are reality based and not over dramatized.

Dane DeHaan does an awesome job portraying Andrew Detmer the school yard looser who has a troubled family life. Alex Russell plays Matt Garetty Andrew’s cousin. Michael B. Jordan as Steve Montgomery the popular guy at school. Michael Kelly as Richard Detmer, Andrew’s alcoholic abusive father. & Ashley Hinshaw who plays Casey Letter the video blogger chick. The surprise to me was how all the actors really hit their marks! At no point was I cringing, squinting or gasping at the inadequacies that often accommodate these low budget “found footage” super hero / horror films. In fact quite the opposite! I was drawn in and sold out to the drama that unfolded before me.

If you like super hero films you are going to love this sci-fi thriller Chronicle! More about the movie Chronicle
